Panguni Uthiram

Panguni Uthiram falls when the Uthiram nakshatra meets the full moon in the Tamil month of Panguni. Several divine marriages are commemorated on it, among them Murugan and Deivanai at Thiruparankundram.

It is considered one of the most auspicious days of the year for weddings and for fulfilling vows, and kavadi is carried at Palani and Thiruthani.

Because it is a marriage and vow day, this is a gifting occasion more than a personal-worship one — idols and a full pooja set are given more often than a single small Vel.
